At the “Application of Science & Technology, Innovation, and Value Enhancement in Food Preservation and Processing” Workshop

Organized by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment in collaboration with the Faculty of Food Technology – Vietnam National University of Agriculture on August 12, 2025, #HIBISO – #AnToTea received numerous questions from businesses on how to bring Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and fishery products to international markets.

Recognizing the importance of export for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), HIBISO – AnToTea is pleased to share six practical steps to support Vietnamese businesses in conquering global markets:

1. Assess the Enterprise’s Capacity

HIBISO – AnToTea recommends that businesses thoroughly evaluate their business models, product quality, and human resources. It is essential to meet international standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, or organic certification to be ready for the global stage.
At the startup phase—or later when scaling up production to meet large orders—businesses can consider partnering with certified processing factories or cooperatives that already possess the necessary certifications.

2. Fill in the Missing Elements

After the assessment, identify and address missing elements such as international certifications, suitable packaging, or logistics partners.
HIBISO – AnToTea is ready to connect businesses with trade promotion organizations, logistics and import-export companies, and GMP, HACCP, Halal-certified factories to support this process.

3. Start with Small Pilot Shipments

Find an import partner in the target market or nearby region to conduct a trial export with a small shipment.
HIBISO – AnToTea advises working with partners who are experienced in customs procedures, contracts, and secure payment methods to ensure smooth operations.

4. Conduct On-the-Ground Market Research

Participate in international trade fairs, conduct direct field surveys, or hire market research services to gather real consumer insights.
HIBISO – AnToTea suggests preparing product introduction materials in the local language and complying with local labeling and food safety regulations.

5. Adapt Products to the Target Market

Based on market feedback, adjust flavors, packaging, or pricing strategies to fit consumer preferences and cultural contexts.
HIBISO – AnToTea can help connect businesses with consulting partners to ensure products are well tailored to market demands.

6. Scale Up with Larger Export Orders

Once pilot shipments succeed, build long-term relationships with import partners and move toward larger, consistent export orders.
HIBISO – AnToTea encourages businesses to implement supply chain management tools to ensure stable and efficient export operations.
